Ok, first off, I’m not really supporting the scholarship for white males only in Texas.  I just thought I’d run it up the flagpole and see if it drew any fire.  Since even my conservative blogmate seems to think it’s a bad concept, that’ s good enough for me.  I just wanted to point out that I don’t immediately discount every right-wing idea and stance out of hand in some kind of reflexive disgust.  When someone at least makes some sort of attempt to make a logical reasonable case, I’m willing to at least give it due consideration.  Final judgement: Racially or sexually or religiously exclusive scholarships, contracts, clubs, and organizations = BAD (even if well-intentioned.)

But after watching the Oscars with Mrs. Left, including a couple of hours of the proverbial red carpet, I’ve come to the conclusion that I have no clue whatsoever where fashion is concerned.  It’s a whole bunch of gay guys (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and Kellie Osbourne (who became an authority based on what criteria?) declaring certain ensembles to be divine and others hideous, those evaluations often being the diametric opposite of my personal assessments.  For instance, Oscar host Anne Hathaway drew a Huffington Post “Worst-Dressed” nod for this:

While the same reviewer granted Kate Blanchett a “Best-Dressed” prize for this:

I don’t have a clue.
